A Television Documentary About Alcoholic Symptoms and Signs Results in Some Anxious and Disheartening Emotions About a Young Woman’s Drinking Issues

Daniel had been engaging in irresponsible drinking behavior since her senior year in college. Now, nine years later, she drank more than ever. One Friday night when she was feeling queasy, Daniel made up her mind to stay home, lighten up, and watch TV.

While hunting for a program to watch that would grab hold of her interest, she without delay became attracted to a program about adolescent and young adult drinking stumbling blocks.

When Typical Alcoholic Signs and Symptoms are Revealed by Alcohol Addicted People

The narrator defined the difference between alcohol abuse and alcohol addiction and then got into the subject of alcohol dependency symptoms and alcoholism warning signs. When the speaker went into detail about a person’s alcoholic behavior and some of the more familiar alcoholic symptoms and signs that people dependent on alcohol display, Daniel got quite alarmed because it basically seemed as if the speaker was talking directly to her.

After watching the television documentary, Daniel made a promise to herself that she would telephone her physician the next business day and make an appointment to discuss her drinking problem.

When the next workday arrived, true to her word, Daniel called her physician and made an appointment. In the meantime, she went online and did a search for alcoholic symptoms. Especially difficult were the following symptoms or signs: sneaking a couple of drinks before social activities, making excuses to drink at almost every chance, sleep issues, important work-related and relationship problems, and increasing anxiety.

Stated simply, since Daniel displayed all of these symptoms she went deeper in her Internet search and found quite a lot of websites and blogs that highlighted different alcohol dependency warning signs and symptoms.

One of the symptoms that really captured her attention was the following: “Do you ever drink after stating to yourself that you won’t?” While Daniel never accepted the fact that she may have a critical drinking problem, after reading about the various alcoholism symptoms and warning signs, she couldn’t reject the fact that for the past seven or eight months, she time after time tried but was unsuccessful at appreciably lessening her drinking or totally quitting.

When People Get on Your Nerves by Criticizing Your Irresponsible Drinking Behavior

Another alcohol dependency sign that took hold of her interest was the following: “Have people at your place of employment aggravated you by denouncing your drinking?” When Daniel read this she immediately thought about a recent fight she had with her best friend about her hazardous drinking behavior. Moreover, Daniel without a doubt reflected on a recent fight she had with her parents about her irresponsible drinking behavior. Since Daniel truthfully believed that she didn’t have a drinking issue, when family members talked about her drinking she naturally got upset and mad.

A third alcohol addiction symptom was the following: “Do you need a drink when you first awaken in the morning?” Until now, Daniel had been dishonest with herself about her drinking situation. After reading about the aforementioned alcoholism warning symptoms, however, she knew if she was sincerely honest with herself that she was facing a serious drinking problem, especially given the fact that she now believed that she needed a drink the first thing in the morning to lessen her constant worry.

If this wasn’t enough, the next alcoholic symptom really got her thinking about her problem drinking: “Do you drink to avoid pain or problems?” When she reflected on her life for a few minutes, she comprehended that nearly in every rough situation in the past four or five months, she told herself that she needed a drink to help cope with the disorder in her life.

The final alcoholism warning sign that made her feel fairly ill at ease about her drinking situation was the following: “Has your enthusiasm for life shrunk since you started drinking on a regular basis?” When Daniel read this sign she noticeably realized that drinking had become a severe issue in her life because of her diminished energy level and also because she stopped pursuing her passions and her goals.

Summary: When Misery Turns Into Something Thrilling and Something to Look Forward To

After reflecting on all of these unhealthy alcoholic signs and symptoms, Daniel at first felt down in the dumps. Then something wonderful transpired. She realized that she was going to see her doctor about her drinking and she also realized that she would talk about all of the above alcoholism warning symptoms and signs with her. In truth, for the first time in quite a lot of months, Daniel frankly felt a sense of hopefulness because she was facing her drinking difficulties and was in the end ready to make the needed adjustments so that she could repossess the life that was slipping away.
