A Television Special About Alcohol Dependency Symptoms Leads to Some Stressful and Depressing Emotions About a Young Female’s Abusive and Irresponsible Drinking

Daniel had been engaging in abusive drinking behavior since her junior year in college. Now, ten years later, she drank more than ever.  One Friday night when she was feeling ill, Daniel made up her mind to stay home, lighten up, and watch TV.

While searching for a special program to watch that she would find fascinating, she instantaneously became fascinated with a program about young adult and teen drinking issues.

When Everyday Alcohol Addiction Symptoms and Signs are Manifested by People Dependent on Alcohol

The speaker discussed the difference between alcohol abuse and alcoholism and then discussed the topic of alcoholism symptoms and alcoholism warning signs. When the spokesperson discussed a person’s alcoholic behavior and some of the more customary alcoholic symptoms and signs that alcohol dependent individuals reveal, Daniel got quite troubled because it almost seemed as if the speaker was talking directly to her.

After watching the TV program, Daniel made a promise to herself that she would telephone her health care professional the following morning and make an appointment to discuss her drinking problem.

When the next business day arrived, true to her word, Daniel called her physician and made an appointment.  In the meantime, she went on the Internet and did a search for alcoholic symptoms.  Especially difficult were the following symptoms or signs: making excuses to drink at virtually every opportunity, sleep problems, serious relationship and work-related problems, sneaking extra drinks before social events, and increasing irritability.

Stated simply, since Daniel displayed all of these signs she went further in her online search and found quite a lot of websites and blogs that articulated various alcohol addiction warning signs and symptoms.

One of the signs that really captured her interest was the following: “Do you commonly drink after promising yourself that you won’t?”  While Daniel never figured out that she may have a significant drinking problem, after reading about the different alcohol addiction symptoms and warning signs, she couldn’t renounce the fact that for the past two or three months, she frequently tried but failed at significantly lessening her drinking or stopping entirely.

When Friends and Neighbors Bother You by Frowning on Your Hazardous Drinking Behavior

Another alcohol dependency sign that took hold of her interest was the following:  “Have family members exasperated you by frowning upon your drinking behavior?”  When Daniel read this she instantaneously remembered a recent disagreement she had with her boyfriend about her irresponsible drinking.  Moreover, Daniel without a doubt reflected on a recent squabble she had with her parents about her excessive drinking behavior.  Since Daniel truthfully believed that she didn’t have a drinking issue, when friends mentioned her drinking behavior she as you would expect got aggravated and annoyed.

A third alcohol addiction warning sign was the following:  “Do you crave a drink when you first awaken in the morning?”  Until now, Daniel had been lying to herself about her drinking.  After reading about the aforementioned alcoholism warning signs, however, she knew if she was really honest with herself that she was facing a serious drinking problem, especially given the fact that she now believed that she needed a drink the first thing in the morning to diminish her anxiety.

If this wasn’t enough, the next alcoholism warning sign really got her thinking about her drinking behavior: “Do you drink to get away from worries or anxiety?” When she thought about her life for a few moments, she realized that virtually in every demanding situation in the past six or seven months, she told herself that she needed a drink to help deal with the disarray in her life.

The final alcohol dependency symptom that made her feel somewhat anxious about her drinking problem was the following:  “Has your enthusiasm for life diminished since you started drinking on a more regular basis?” When Daniel read this sign she openly comprehended that drinking had become a significant difficulty in her life because of her diminished energy level and also because she gave up pursuing her passions and her goals.

Summary:  When Sadness Turns Into Something Wonderful and A Sense of Hopefulness

After pondering the significance of all of these injurious alcohol dependency symptoms and signs, Daniel at first felt miserable. Then something surprising  transpired.  She realized that she was going to see her doctor about her drinking and she also realized that she would talk about all of the above alcohol addiction warning symptoms and signs with her. If truth be told, for the first time in several months, Daniel truthfully felt a sense of optimism because she was confronting her drinking problems and was at long last ready to make the necessary adjustments so that she could reclaim the life that was sliding away.
