Preventing Acne – Simple Tips that Work!
Whether you are 15 or 45, there’s a chance you are dealing with acne. It’s not just a teen thing. Many teens and adults alike are dealing with acne, and it’s definitely no fun to deal with those breakouts when you least expect and want them. Of course, there are various causes of acne. Both internal and external causes exist – something that is important for you to remember. The good news is that you can prevent acne from occurring. If you want to keep your skin clear, no matter your age, here are some great tips for preventing acne that work.
Tip #1 – Avoid Touching Your Face
One of the worst things you can do is touch your face. We get all kinds of germs on our hands, and when we touch our face, we transfer them to the face. This is not only bad for your skin, but bad for your health, since this is how colds and the flu are transferred. Avoid touching your face and it will help you to prevent acne.
Tip #2 – Wash Pillowcases, Sheets, and Towels Often
If you are interested in preventing acne, another easy thing you can do is to wash your pillowcases, sheets, and towels often. Bacteria can be harbored on sheets and pillowcases, and even on towels and washcloths. This bacteria can cause acne or make acne worse. Just wash it more often and you’ll help to prevent breakouts from occurring.
Tip #3 – Keep Your Hair Clean
It’s so important that you keep your hair clean if you want to prevent acne from occurring. Your scalp releases oils that get in your hair, if you don’t wash your hair often enough, those oils can get on your face, causing acne to occur. You should also keep your hair off your face as much as possible to avoid the transfer of oils to your face from your hair.
Tip #4 – Always Wash Off Makeup
While it’s best to go without makeup if you can, many people feel the need to wear makeup. If you are going to wear the makeup, it is always important that you wash off the makeup if you’re interested in preventing acne. If you don’t wash it off, it can clog up the pores in your skin, leading to acne breakouts, so make sure you wash your face thoroughly and get rid of the makeup at the end of the day.
Tip #5 – Use a Good Cleanser with Salicylic Acid
Many people have acne breakouts because the dead skin cells end up clogging pores instead of being sloughed off the face. This is why it’s such a great idea to use a cleanser that has salicylic acid in it. Salicylic acid helps to strip away the dead skin cells, which keeps them from falling into pores and clogging them, so this will help you to prevent acne as well.
