Put the Brakes on Periodontal Disease
If at all possible, you will want to stop periodontal disease. Here is why: periodontal disease is an infection of your gums. This will actually lead to bone loss of individual teeth and you may lose all of your teeth in the long run. It is important to watch for signs or symptoms of periodontal disease. There are several different ways to go about preventing and treating periodontal disease which we will discuss later. The body’s immune response to the bacteria on your teeth is what ends up causing and contributing to periodontal disease.
Periodontal disease does not mean that you haven’t brushed or flossed well. There is more to preventing this disease than that.
The bacterium sits on the teeth and eventually causes an infection. The body’s immune response then kicks in and tries to destroy the bacterial infection. However this only makes the situation worse and usually causes periodontal disease. If left untreated this disease can lead to bone loss of the teeth and even completely loosing ones teeth. This is the reason why you need to take this problem seriously and treat it properly.
The ways in which you can stop periodontal disease are actually relatively straightforward. Make sure every day that you brush, floss, and gargle and least twice. A lot of people think you need to use a lot of force when brushing the teeth. However, that is false and using too much force can actually cause gum recession.
When brushing, do so gently and use less force than you have been accustomed to, cover all surfaces. Aslo it is important to floss, use mouthwash and brush after every meal. The final step to proper care is to visit your periodontist regularly.
Any mouth disease should not be taken lightly including but not limited to periodontal disease. Make sure if you feel like you have any symptoms at all of this disease that you get in touch with your dentist right away. Do what you can now to stop periodontal disease before it is too late.
