Relief From Pain; Some Natural Remedies

There are natural health remedies that can give relief from pain. But sometimes pain is a necessity. You’ve probably once accidentally put your hand on a hot surface. In cases like this the pain will trigger the response you need to withdraw your hand thus avoiding severe injury. Without the information pain gives you, you would probably have been an invalid by now. This is a positive aspects of pain.

Other innocent over-the-counter pain relievers such as acetaminophen and ibuprofen may cause liver injury or gastrointestinal bleeding if used long enough.

Are there alternative drugs that can give relief from pain but lack the severe side effects mentioned above? Fortunately the answer is ‘yes’. There are Herbs that are homeopathic natural remedies and have a long history of use as pain relievers. Which natural health remedies are we talking about? Here are a few good remedies against pain:

Feverfew

Feverfew has been used for hundreds of years and works for headaches, migraines, as well as aches and pains over the whole body.

Bromelain

Bromelain is an enzyme contained in pineapples and is well know as a remedy that reduces pain a lot. It is assumed by scientists that the reason this natural health remedy can reduce pain is that it breaks down protein in the blood, thus curbing pain-causing inflammation. Bromelain is considered safe and without side effects. The recommended dosage is from 200 to 400 milligrams a day when you have pain.

Arnica

Arnica has been used by homeopaths for treating swelling and bruising.

Boswellia

Boswellia serrata is a remedy used for hundreds of years in traditional Indian Ayurvedic medicine and has been clinically proven to relieve symptoms of arthritis. Boswellia may be even more effective than drugs over-the-counter drugs such as ibuprofen for reducing inflammation. This herb contains acid that seems to block an enzyme that generates inflammatory chemicals. According to Holly Phaneuf, PhD of the University of Utah, this herb may be effective on pain caused by osteoarthritis which is a pretty common condition among people over 40. It has also proven to work well against asthma which is often associated to inflammation. The recommended dose is 450 to 1,200 mg per day when you need to get relief from pain.
