Solutions For Excessive Perspiration
Although everyone sweats as a part of normal life particularly in hot, badly ventilated rooms, or when working out, excessive sweating is actually a medical condition called hyper-hidrosis. Sufferers of hyperhidrosis normally report profuse sweating of their hands, feet and underarms, although it’s not uncommon to have profuse sweating of the scalp, back, groin and pretty much any other places where there are numerous sweat glands. There’s even one kind of excess sweating that only occurs during the night, called sleep hyper-hidrosis. It doesn’t matter where the abnormal sweating occurs because all variations cause issues for the sufferer, from the sweaty hands causing accidents, a social problem with handshakes or armpit stains, and all will lead to body odor unless the sweat is washed off frequently.
Before seeking treatment of hyperhidrosis, it is important to know what causes normal sweat activation. In people without excessive sweating problems, the sweat glands are controlled by the central nervous system… specifically the sympathetic nervous system. Humans have hardly any control over the actions of the sympathetic nervous system . It’s the part that regulates our heart-beat, our breathing, our gut movement and many other body functions we’re unaware of.. unless something stops working properly.
Control of sweating is impaired in those people who suffer from profuse sweating. Scientists know the root of the problem is over-active nerves leading to the sweat glands, because botox injections will stop the over-sweating, as will severing the nerve and anti-cholinergic drugs. Those three methods to stop hyperhydrosis are quite drastic. Less dramatic solutions for excessive sweating are strong antiperspirants (such as the prescription ones anhydrol forte, driclor, or other powerful aluminium-chloride-based anti-perspirant), avoiding stimulation of the sympathetic nervous system by avoiding caffeine, alcohol and spicy foods, and employing relaxation techniques such as yoga, deep breathing, visualization, meditation, and progressive muscle relaxation. Some people believe that sage tea and zinc may decrease sweating.
Usually most people who have excessive perspiration will go for cheap, natural solutions, and if they don’t work will, consider the more expensive treatments. It’s important to note that the most advanced remedies (surgery and drugs) can have side-effects, so please consult a qualified medical practitioner before considering such solutions for your abnormal sweating.
